How to choose and or appoint a CD

The Rules say that the CD is appointed by the EC with advice from FPMT. This is a very loose and problematic situation open to unhelpful interpretation and implementation by the EC without community input or oversight. What ideas do you have?

The Rules only allow the CD to guide the EC. What does that mean in practice? What do you propose?

CD reporting to Members

There is no requirement stipulated in the Rules that require the CD to report to or consult with Members on anything. Is that appropriate?

Volunteers, volunteering

TI only survives because of volunteers, from the Executive on down. Many people have volunteered to give their energy and time to TI over the years. But there are also so many stories of them being advised to fold newsletter, mow the lawn or do something else that immediately assumes they have nothing better to give. Surely it's a better idea to properly interview them to ascertain what talents they may have that would benefit TI. Should volunteer management be a portfolio that deserves to be added to the EC?

Residency at TI

Residency at TI was initially an important way of funding the Centre. Over the years it has become somewhat entrenched and has swallowed up casual accommodation space that was used by people attending weekend courses. Residents are also aging and will soon not be able to live at TI. What are your thoughts on any of these or other resident concerns?

Property development

Although it is unlikely that the community would give up its $15 million single property in favour of two $7 million properties serving two locations, Mavis Avenue is decaying with concrete cancer and other ravages of time. What are your thoughts on bringing this 1970s property up to modern day standards?
